Tiger roars rocked Atlanta Wednesday evening, jump-starting Big Daddy’s New Year’s Eve festivities long before midnight. LSU’s dominance helped Louisiana forget the pain of a dreadful ’08 as we rolled into 2009. This week, Big Daddy’s

After all the bad things that happened in 2008, losing to Carolina got Big Daddy’s New Year’s drinking started early to numb the pain of a terrible year. This week Big Daddy’s Saints Beat blog delivers coverage of the New Year’s Eve Mid-City bonfire, gives the season’s final section 645 report, recaps the Carolina game, wonders if Jake Delhomme cursed the Crescent City, questions Sean Payton’s comments, releases his

After struggling against lesser teams to stop a two-game slide, the Lakers looked like the defending Western Conference champs they are in winning handily against last year's and possibly this year's #2 seed, the New Orleans Hornets.

Just when the Grizzlies appeared to be rolling, they ran into the New Orleans Hornets again. The Hornets remain the only team to beat the Grizzlies in the past two weeks, handing them their first loss in five games on Tuesday 91-84.

In a development that seems to be straight from the "You Have Got to be Kidding Me" line of reasoning, the Grizzlies have reportedly agreed to send guard Javaris Crittendon to the Washington Wizards and a second-round draft pick to the New Orleans Hornets in exchange for a conditional first round draft pick they had sent to the Wizards last year.

The Grizzlies knew they had to play at their best to have a shot at upsetting the New Orleans Hornets on their home floor, but after an early blitz by the Hornets they never had a chance.

The big three of New Orleans, Chris Paul, Peja Stojakovic and David West, combined for one of their best collective performances, tallying 60 points on 21-of-30 shooting to put the pressure on the Grizz offense to find an answer.

If last night’s narrow victory told us anything about the Lakers, it told us that there are a couple of holes in the Lakers new and league best defense. For one, they are susceptible to the 3-po

So I normally title my Monday blog: Monday Mourning due to being hungover from a full day of drinking and watching sports, hence the “mourning” because I have to get up, go to work, puke in the bathroom, and subsequently fall asleep in all of my meetings and get absolutely no work done. But today is different, mainly due to the fact that CBS’s and Fox’s regional coverage of NFL games in my area was HORRIBLE. Games that had a spread of +11 with no fantasy implications at all were being aired, so I went and watched polo (you know, the sport where guys on horses trot around and whack a ball with mallets). I had never been to a polo game before but we decided to go due to the possibility of attractive females (there are always beautiful women at horse events). We mingled with a few and made up some elaborate lies that we were just checking out the competition and had our horses stabled a few miles away. We were obviously out of place, with our cheers of “nice pass man!” and “shoooooot it!” but we wholeheartedly plan on attending it every Sunday for the rest of the season – pending what NFL games are on of course.

With the MLB playoffs set to begin, there is a subtle difference in the air compared to start of any other postseason. In the NHL, fans can potentially look forward to a great Canadians/Bruins series that is not only exciting, but has a historical kick to it. Likewise basketball fans always have the chance to see if the Suns can finally get past the Spurs and football fans love seeing the rivalry of the Eagles Vs the City of Philadelphia when the Eagles so much as get tackled for a loss.

This past January I set up another sports site called 24/7 Sports Stop as a side project of mine. My current writing staff has gotten lazy and stopped posting, and I am looking to add new writers.

The U.S. Spain final may be one of the most pivotal games in basketball history.

No, its not just cause the U.S. won. We often mouth the words, "It means more to do it for the country," without it really meaning anything. Its liking saying, "Yea I really care for you girl,"to a girl he just met 1 hour ago in a noisy bar. As long as the guy gets a chance to go for a roll in the hay, (

After winning they're last two games at home over two eastern confrence speed bumps The Pacers and 76ers the Lakers head on the road for a quick two game road trip. They will be playing back to back games starting Tuesday with a game Vs. The Memphis Grizzlies although the Grizz have a horrifying 10-23 record they shouldn't be overlooked by the Lakers. The last meeting between these two teams resulted in a Lakers 10 point loss 128-118 at the FedEX forum. I'd add the Grizzlies were equally horrible last year.

The Mavs have lost 5 of their last 5 and 9 games total this season. Mercifully, the New Orleans Hornets lost tonight as well, and the Mavericks didn’t lose any ground in the division. Friday, the Mavericks will square off against the Hornets, and as of now, the Mavericks are a half game back of them in the Southwest division and 4 games back of San Antonio, who looks like the real deal defending world champs.
